Die Botschaft besteht aus abertausenden codierten Bildern, bei denen es sich um alle geheimenen Informationen aller Sicherheits- und sonstigen Behörden der USA handelt. Als Chuck diese öffnet, brennen sich diese in sein Gehirn ein, und die Botschaft wird kurz darauf vernichtet.
Langer Rede kaum vorhandener Sinn, Chuck kann diese Informationen nun bei Beäugigung eines darin gespeicherten Objektes, sei es z.B. ein Agent oder eine Art von Waffentechnologie, abrufen, und wird nun vom CIA und von der NSA in Form von zwei Agenten (Yvonne Strahovski, Adam Baldwin) kontaktiert und muss von nun an als deren Infoquelle herhalten.
Nur in Worte niedergeschrieben hört sich die Prämisse relativ abgedroschen an, ist aber im Prinzip die perfekte Vorlage um einen Alltags-Normalo in extreme Situationen zu befördern, und dies ist sowohl ein komisches als auch ein spannendes Spektakel.
Vor allem Zachary Levi in der Hauptrolle des Chuck überrascht durch seine makellose Darbietung eines liebenswerten Nerds, mit dem man in Gefahrensituationen mitfiebert und in dramatischeren Begebenheiten ko-fühlt (besonders da er vorher hauptsächlich durch eine Serie namens “Less Than Perfect” semi-bekannt wurde, welche eher seichtes Sitcom-Material bot).
In den Rollen der beiden beschützenden Agenten findet man die Newcomerin Yvonne Strahovski als CIA Agentin Sarah Walker, welche neben ihrer bezaubernden Schönheit auch eine gewisse Feistheit mitbringt, und Adam Baldwin (Nein, nicht von den Baldwins) als Brocken von NSA Agent John Casey, bekannt unter Sci-Fi Fans aus der Kultserie “Firefly” und dem darauf basierendem Movie “Serenity”.
Alles in allem ein gelungener Cocktail aus Action und Komödie, in dem auch die Nebencharaktere nicht unterentwickelt und gut geschrieben erscheinen. Sechs von drei Sternen.
